Am I crazy? Well no, it's just the emotional stress of moving continents, but I was a tear away from crying over Cadbury's takeover by Kraft! It's kinda ironic, but the one food that used to make me gag as a kid if I even thought about it, was mac & cheese.
There are many more important (less shallow!) things I miss about Britain, but it's often food that seems to hit home. I wonder why this is?
Im with norri five bucks for a short packet of choccy hob nobs
He looked haggard and careworn, like a Borgia who has suddenly remembered that he has forgotten to shove cyanide in the consomme, and the dinner-gong due any moment.
I'm prepared to pay for imported tea, but that's about it. At least the effect of less walking will be balanced by the decrease in biscuit consumption
And actually, the best cottage pie I've ever had was the one I made myself in America. (Not the ultra-expensive one in the "British" gastropub in Virginia...)
I'm too lazy to like the idea of baking bread ALL the time, but if we have a big enough yard I might get a cow and mature my own Cheddar... Actually, that's the other thing I might spend lots of dollars on. Imported cheese.
I agree its way too expensive just like the American stuff is over here...but since i have a very large family I could see DH getting some of that stuff for Christmas !!
this thread has inspired me to get my family to send me a rescue package. And the Ironic thing is the single best Malt Whisky shop i have been in is Just off county Rd 42 and i-35 so i may have to treat myself there.

Now there's something worth splashing the cash on.
Oooh yes, my mom-in-law sometimes pops down the international aisle and buys me what she finds there. My own mother is a bit conflicted, she thinks the postage is too expensive to ever send parcels anywhere. But maybe she'll send me one in a year or two :-) Although I won't be contented with anything less that the entirety of Tesco. I know we're supposed to hate Tesco cuz they're cheap and so probably exploitive and maybe the reason all the local grocers have vanished, but I do like them. The giant superstore ones. American superstores just aren't the same.
Can't believe I'm getting all nostalgic about a superstore. Man.
My wife liked to go to the tesco superstore because it reminded her of target and i go to target because it reminds me of Tesco. Truth be told they aren't that similar but hey ho!!
